Sober Coaching

If you’re starting to feel uncomfortable with the amount of alcohol you’re drinking and you’re finding it hard to cut down, Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a highly effective way to retrain your brain to drink less or not at all.

Why we over-drink

Drinking has become such a big part of our culture in recent decades that it’s hard not to be drawn in. You just have to turn on the TV to be bombarded with reasons why you should reach for a glass.

And there always seems to be an acceptable reason to drink – you’ve got a promotion, your child’s passed their exams, you’ve got to the end of a busy week, or even that you’ve managed to get to the end of the day – which I know sometimes is no mean feat!

The phrases ‘wine o’clock’ and ‘sun-downer’ also seem to have become part of our everyday vocabulary.

Confusing messages

But yet, as acceptable as it is, we’re also told that we must limit our drinking. We can enjoy it, but not too much. Which is a confusing message for our brains to compute – especially when we’re stressed out and rushing around. Grabbing a drink is much easier to do than stopping and analysing the reasons behind our desire to drink.

But just because it’s easy and acceptable, that doesn’t mean it’s good for our mental and physical health and wellbeing.

The negative effects

As well as the well-documented affects it can have on our overall health, drinking too much can also leave us feeling sluggish and unmotivated the next day. It can also affect our mood - alcohol has been scientifically proven to increase anxiety and depression.

So, whereas you may be drinking to supress your anxiety – in effect self-medicating – when you drink, you’re actually heightening these feelings.

What is sober coaching?

In 2019 I decided to quit drinking after realising the negative impact it was beginning to have on my enjoyment of life. I trained as a Sober Coach with the Sober Club and now help others to change their relationship with alcohol.

I can either help you to stop over-drinking, or to stop drinking altogether if that’s your preferred path.

How it works:

  • Firstly, we’ll have a detailed initial consultation including how to reduce your cravings at ‘wine o’clock’

  • I’ll recommend some quit lit for you to read alongside your journey

  • We’ll make a sober tool kit that can be used in different situations

  • We’ll explore areas of your life where drinking might be used to numb or cope

  • I’ll give you a recording to listen to daily to help expedite the changes you are making

  • You’ll have the option of daily support via text.

And our discussions will be reinforced using positive suggestion under hypnosis, which will help to expedite the behaviour change you’re hoping for.

To find out how I can help you, contact me to arrange a free initial consultation or make a booking.

The support I received was amazing. At any point there was someone who understood EXACTLY what I was going through and daily contact was invaluable. I recommend this to anyone who is sober curious or just unhappy with their relationship with alcohol.

I didn't feel alone during any part of my journey. Charlotte has so much wisdom both professionally and personally in this area, there is little she hasn't heard or been exposed to before. This made my experience 100% more comfortable.
