Therapy sessions

Your hypnotherapy session

You may be wondering what happens in a hypnotherapy session.
You may be wondering what happens in a hypnotherapy session.

Will I swing a pocket watch in front of your eyes until you slump into a deep sleep? Will I have full control of your thoughts and actions?

The answer is no.

During the sessions you’ll be in control at all times, and you’ll always be fully aware of your surroundings. Our sessions will feel more like a calm, relaxed, satisfying conversation.

Many of my clients tell me that they leave their sessions feeling refreshed and lighter – as if a weight has been lifted.

1.

We’ll set a clear goal for your sessions, agreeing the outcome that you’re looking for

2.

I’ll use questioning techniques to help you work out the steps you need to take to achieve your goals. For example, I may ask you what your future would be like if you overcame your current problem. I might ask you what would have changed in your life to get you there

Next, I’ll slowly lead you into a hypnotic state, where you’ll feel relaxed, and your mind will switch to a ‘solution-focused’ mode, allowing it to calmly absorb and process what has been said during our discussion

Then I’ll gently bring you back into your normal present state, where we can reflect consciously on the changes we’ve discussed

Your first session

When you come to your first Solution Focused Hypnotherapy session in my Hertfordshire hypnotherapy clinic, or we connect via Zoom, we’ll discuss what’s brought you here and what changes you’re looking to achieve.

We’ll talk through any concerns or reservations you have about the session, so I can set your mind at rest and make sure you’re comfortable in your surroundings. Then we’ll follow these steps:

Your own recording

At the end of the first session I’ll give you a hypnotherapy recording to take away with you. You can listen to this between sessions to practice your positive thinking techniques and to help maintain your progress.

Monitoring progress

In each session we’ll discuss how you’re progressing and what you think is working and maybe not working.

My aim is to make the sessions as efficient and effective as possible for you, so if we need to make any changes as we go, we will.
